About

camerachooser.blogspot.com is owned and run by freelance photography journalist Rod Lawton. It's designed to be a quick and easy source of information for photo enthusiasts choosing a new camera. It lists every current digital SLR, hybrid and high-end compact camera on the market and splits them into categories for easy comparisons.

Each camera is shown with a list of key features and, if you want to find out more, you can follow the links to the original press release and the manufacturer's own product page.

There are no lengthy camera reviews here because there are plenty of other sites which do those. Instead, camerachooser is designed to offer a quick insight into all the cameras on the market, how they work and what makes them different.

It also explains the camera jargon and technology that the makers use and which can help you choose between one camera and another.

Information for editors
camerachooser.blogspot.com is also designed to be:

• A showcase for the work I do as a freelance photography writer and camera reviewer

• A resource for editors who want a quick overview of the market and ideas for camera reviews, comparisons and roundups.

Experience
I've been taking pictures for 25 years, writing for 20 and concentrating on digital photography for the past 10. I've been a full-time writer since 1995, and before that I was a magazine editor, production editor and reviewer, so I know what it's like on both sides of the fence.

Publications
It's a long list, and includes The Sunday Times, Amateur Photographer, 35mm Photography, SLR Photography, Digital Camera, Digital Photographer, Digital Camera Buyer, Digital Photo Effects, Digital Photography Enthusiast, Digital Camera Shopper, Photo Plus, PhotoRadar, Shutterbug (US), T3, Stuff and CNET UK. I've also written for a similar number of computing magazines over the years.

Specialities
• Digital camera reviews (from compacts to full-frame D-SLRs) and group tests
• Technology articles and how-tos
• Image-editing techniques (Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, iPhoto, Picasa)

I'll be happy if you find this site useful, happier still if you can give me some feedback on what you like and how it could be improved, and happiest of all if it leads to some commissions!

Thanks,

Rod Lawton
